The fifth Pollinator Table and an important recognition for LIFE BEEADAPT

An important recognition for LIFE BEEadapt project: on Tuesday, December 2nd, the fifth meeting of the Pollinator Table was hosted as part of an event organized by ISPRA and the Ministry of the Environment (MASE), dedicated entirely to the Ecosystem Restoration Plan and the definition of possible conservation measures for pollinating insects.

Conceived in this format, the Table presented the BEEadapt approach and the governance tools developed within the project (Stewardship Agreements and the Pollinator Protection Pact) to all National Parks, also with a view to promoting replication in other national protected areas.

Speakers on the occasion included Willy Reggioni, from the Parco Nazionale degli Appennini tosco-emiliani and project coordinator, and Stefano Magaudda, from the Università di Roma Tre – Faculty of Architecture. Giuseppe Dodaro of the Fondazione per lo Sviluppo Sostenibile coordinated the closing debate.

The audience, composed of industry experts, technicians, and officials from National Parks, as well as other institutional representatives, listened closely to the presentations, which concluded a stimulating morning. By presenting these two governance tools developed under the LIFE BEEadapt project, we were able to promote the project’s initiatives and highlight the opportunity to replicate them in other areas, thus improving their capacity to adapt to climate change. The signing of Custody Agreements and Protection Pacts, in accordance with the BEEadapt approach, has also been promoted by ISPRA and MASE as an effective measure to improve pollinator conservation within National Parks.

This initiative and the received responseconfirm the importance of the work done so far, and we hope it will inspire the management bodies of other Protected Areas.
