Today, at the Parco Nazionale del Circeo headquarters in Sabaudia, the signing of the protocol for the adaptation of pollinators to climate change in the Agro Pontino area, developed as part of the European LIFE BEEadapt project, was concluded by representatives from the Parco and the project. The agreement was signed by Emanuela Zappone, President of Parco Nazionale del Circeo, and Luigi Niccolini, President of Confagricoltura Latina. Stefano Donati, Director of Parco del Circeo, Mauro D’Arcangeli, Director of Confagricoltura Latina, and Claudio Carpineti, Project Coordinator for Confagricoltura Latina, were also present.
The Pact envisions a shared path involving institutions, farmers, and local entities to define concrete actions aimed at protecting pollinators. The main lines of intervention include increasing ecological connectivity, coordinated management of rural habitats, promotion of sustainable agricultural practices, and the implementation of a Local Agenda that integrates programming, planning, and environmental governance tools.
The protocol thus launches a joint commitment aimed at strengthening biodiversity, supporting the resilience of rural ecosystems, and promoting land management consistent with the integrated vision of environmental sustainability and production quality at the heart of the BEEadapt project.

“This project,” Luigi Niccolini, President of Confagricoltura Latina, stated during the meeting, “represents excellence, and it is essential for our organization to be part of it. For our businesses, a healthy environment is a prerequisite for ensuring quality production across agriculture, which then is reflected on the consumers’ tables. The initiative fits perfectly with the path we are pursuing as an agricultural organization, enhancing the local area, protecting the environment, and promoting a model of good agriculture capable of combining innovation and sustainability.”
Parco del Circeo President Emanuela Zappone emphasized that “this is a project of great importance for the area, as it creates the conditions to simplify and strengthen objectives that are strategic for us. The signing of the Protocol and the collaboration with Confagricoltura Latina represent an important first step, also in view of the development of the Parco “Brandization project”, which we intend to advance in the coming months. This marks the beginning of a cooperative process that will allow us to share expertise, project ideas, and tools to support local farms and promote our excellence.
In this same context, the Parco and Confagricoltura Latina will also evaluate a future collaboration to integrate “biodiversity credits” into the Parco Brand project, thus offering farms located within the protected area an additional tool for recognizing and promoting good environmental practices.

The LIFE BEEadapt project is co-financed by the European Union through the LIFE financial instrument and involves ten partners: Parco nazionale degli Appennini tosco-emiliani, as coordinator; Università di Camerino; Fondazione per lo Sviluppo Sostenibile; Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche – Istituto per la Bioeconomia; Confagricoltura Latina; Università di Roma Tre – Dipartimento di Architettura; Roma Natura; Legambiente; Comune di Aprilia; U-SPACE.
