The final event of the LIFE BEEadapt project in the Agro Pontino area and the Municipality of Aprilia took place yesterday in Aprilia.
The afternoon began with a workshop for boys and girls led by “Amici della Luce – Le Mamme di Aprilia”: together, we planted new marigold and lavender seeds in the park, two plants beloved by pollinators.
This was followed by a walk through the park led by project experts, dedicated to informing residents about the interventions that have been implemented and why a seemingly unkempt meadow is an important ally for pollinators.
Several LIFE BEEadapt project interventions have been implemented in Aprilia’s Europa Park: we summarize them in this press release. These include shrub hedges, fruit trees, and delayed-mowing lawns that have made the park an even more beautiful place to visit in spring and a biodiversity hotspot in the neighborhood, providing, with the numerous plants planted, a constant and abundant supply of food for wild pollinating insects.
The initiative concluded with a conversation between project experts, who explained not only where and how it began, but also the results it has achieved so far and what we will see in a few years. Speakers included:

Roberto Scacchi, President of Legambiente Lazio, introduced the event, and Luciano Poli, President of the “Toscanini” Neighborhood Committee, who hosted us at his headquarters, spoke about their involvement in the management of urban public space, thanks in part to these opportunities.
